OCR: AM/FM VARIOUS AM/FM SMALL-TALK, NEWS, GOSSIP - ISSUE #16 Odd H. Sanduik, enthusiastic AM/FM reader from Norway, asks: "Dear AM/FM, Are you going to continue the series "MIDI - An Introduction" written by Kevan Craft? The first article stated that there would be about 10 parts, and I have been following the series up to part 4, but is it going to continue?" [Ed]: Well, we'll simply have to ask Kevan. Kevan? A regular reader wrote to me and pointed out the fact that I use the phrase "your favourite AM/FM-Editor (me)" a whole lot, and he thought that it sounded arrogant and that I thought very highly of myself... Sheesh! All I can say to this is: PLEASE! It's just a little *joke*, for christs sake!! I didn't I do not think that the world think anyone was *that* easily offendable. revolves around me, or that I am *anyone's favourite guy alltogether - it's just a JOKE! Sigh... that's what you get for trying to be funny, I suppose.. AM/FM has finally* (!!!) managed to get a distributor in Germany. I've been trying to find a German distributor for two years (!) and I've finally agreed with APS Electronic; who is distributing AM/FM as of September 1993. All back issues are also available from APS Electronic - Germans can call them on 05026- 1700 to order any AM/FM disk already released - as well as future disks. While AM/FM has become a success in UK and Scandinavia, it has never really taken off in Germany. Only a few disks have been sold there, and no distributor seems to have been interested; until now. I don't know the reason for this; but I think it has something to do with the Germans not being too happy about reading English reading English - they would rather have everything in German. Any Germans readers reading this? Opinions on the matter is more than welcome! Prince is a computer nerd!!!!!!!!! No kidding! Ever since the first computers with sequencers became available (i.e. Mac + the early sequencers for it), Prince has always been one of the first to try out new stuff. He used an Amiga 2000 with Music-X for some time actually, before he changed to Atari - and some pretty great sequencer program for it. In the movie "Graffiti Bridge", you can see Prince composing a new song on either an Atari or a Mac (I'm not sure which program it is). Prince has now recently announced that he will stop making new records (much to the despair of us fans!), and instead using his time and creativity to explore new areas of media and art. Multimedia, CD-rom, etc. etc. are areas that Prince wants to explore and that he wants to take a part in the development of. He wants to do new things with the CD-rom media, and try to find new ways of entertaining people with combinations of music/vision, etc. etc. This goes to prove what has really been obvious all the time - Prince is *extremely interested in computers and their possibilities; I think we can expect to see something very different from the guy in the future. He has also said that the tour he's doing right now is the absolute *last* time he will perform his old hit songs. He's tired of concerts in the context they are held today, and in the future, he might do some concerts in the same way as they did them waaaaay back in the times of Mozart etc. - in those times, they held concerts where they played ONLY NEW MUSIC! Imagine going to a concert and hearing ONLY music that no one has ever heard before and THEN being able to buy the CD maybe a few months later. Now that would be a different experience, and it just might become a reality in future Prince acts. I just wish the guy all the best of luck with everything – he is, afterall, 37 years old now, and we should consider ourselves lucky for every little song he decides to please us with in the future. Moneywise, he's got enough to retire himself and half of the citizens of his home town Minneapolis for the rest of their lives!! If only the friggin guy could buy himself an A4000 (PS: This is an open forum. Reader's views, letters, empty talk, etc., WILL be published!) AM/FM
